FOSSP Trustees Committee; Fundraising Sub-Committee and Volunteers

The Friends of Settle Pool has a committee of Trustees consisting of -

  • Chairperson
  • Treasurer
  • Secretary
  • 200 Club Secretary

and 9 other elected and co-opted members from the public, local government officials, representatives of particular pool user groups etc. Election of Officers takes place each year at the Annual General meeting.

This Committee has responsibility for ensuring that funds raised through the various activities of the Friends are used appropriately to support the Swimming Pool Management Committee in their delivery of services to the local community.

In addition to the Committee there is a group of approx. 25 Volunteers who are responsible for collecting and packing the paper/cardboard waste into the skips that are located at the Pool site. These Volunteers operate a rota system to ensure that the skip site is manned 5 days per week  Monday to Friday from 09.00 to 12.00 and from 14.00 to 17.00 (16.00 during winter months) and also on Saturdays mornings from 09.00 to 12.00.

There are also two trailer collections, one placed in Langcliffe village square which is operated weekly and the other collection covers various businesses in the local area as well as the primary school and a central collection point in Long Preston.

Volunteers are always needed to ensure the skips are manned and to provide cover for sickness, holidays etc so if you have some spare time and wish to support this excellent local facility, why not give your details to either Alan Smith - Settle 822090 or to Ian Gray - Settle 822465.

In response to recent local government support grant cuts, we have established a Joint Fundraising Committee along with the Pool Management Team, with responsibility for fundraising for future projects identified in the Business Plan (currently under development) and for projects identified by the Pool Manager and authorised by the Pool Committee.
